the part-time jungle

Hi, I’m Tiana

I’m a married mom of three boys ages 15, 13, and 10. I live in Calgary, Alberta. I am addicted to coffee and popcorn and getting up at 5 AM on weekdays to ensure that I have my “me time”, which involves a swim at a local pool or a workout in the basement. I enjoy volunteering at the kiddos’ schools, cheering on our two oldest boys at their hockey games, and practicing piano with our youngest son. I love traveling with my family, and time with my mom-friends. The village mentality, involving both family and friends, has made all the difference through all of the ups and downs and in-betweens of motherhood.

I am a teacher.

I have my BSc, BEd, and MEd. I’ve worked in the field of Education in a variety of capacities including as a classroom teacher in both Junior High and High School, a Curriculum Developer, as an Early Learning Coordinator overseeing the programs for and providing support to young children with developmental delays, and now as a sessional instructor in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary.

Since becoming a mom, I’ve been navigating the world of finding a motherhood and work juggle that works best for me and my family.

I realized that the options of going back to work full-time or being a stay at home mom weren’t right for me. I needed to find a place somewhere in between. I have had success finding amazing part-time and flexible work opportunities by putting myself out there, networking, hustling hard, thinking outside of the box, and telling anybody who will listen what my “ideal” job would be. My journey, with all of the challenges and successes, inspired me to create The Part-Time Jungle as a community of support for moms wanting a motherhood and work juggle that works best for them. Let’s navigate the adventure of “swinging motherhood and work” together!

Sharing ideas and resources and supporting one another makes all the difference in The Part-Time Jungle!
